Oxfordshire Two piece Competition, Berinsfield

Four girls from Carterton Gym Club who train at Carterton Community College Upavon Way competed at the Oxfordshire Two piece Competition on 17th November at Berinsfield,all doing beam and floor. Evie Daft competed at level 5IA and took home a gold on beam and bronze on floor. Natasha Granville competed at level 4OOA junior and took home a gold on beam. Georgia Bishop competed at level 4OOA senior taking a bronze on floor. Ella Mead took home a silver on beam and bronze on floor at level 3OOA senior.

Oxfordshire County In and Out of Age Competition, Abingdon

Four girls from Carterton Gymnastic Club took part in the Oxfordshire County In and Out of Age Levels Gymnastics Competition on Sunday 30th June 2013 at Abingdon Gymastics Club.  All four girls did vault, bars, beam and floor.  Evie Daft competed at level 5IA.  Her best piece was on floor scoring 11.05.  Her total score was 41.65 and she took home a bronze on floor. Amelie Meaden competed at level 5OA. Her best piece was also on floor scoring 11.45, total score being 41.85. Georgia Bishop completed at level 4OA and took home bronze on floor. Ella Mead competed at 3OA.  Her best piece was on vault scoring 12.20. Her total score was 41.70.  She took home gold on beam and bronze overall.

Veterans Competition, Basingstoke

Kate Dela from Carterton Gymnastics Club, took part in the Veterans Competition in Basingstoke on Sunday 9th June 2013. It was a very tough competition for Dela as she was the youngest in her group.

 

Kate competed on vault, bars, beam and floor. Her highest score was on beam with 13.20. Her total score was 37.55 which was made up of her three highest scores. She had a good competition and was very pleased to take 1st place overall in the over 30's category. Kate is now working hard for the British Championship Competition in November at Newcastle.

Oxfordshire Gymnastics Grades 14 – 9 Competition, Berinsfield

Carterton Gymnastics Club  took part in the Oxfordshire Club Grades at Berinsfield Gymnastics Club, Oxfordshire on Sunday 17th March 2013.

Evie Daft competed at level 14 and took home a Silver medal scoring 59.05. Her best piece of the day was on vault. Amelie Meaden competed at level 13. She took home a Gold medal scoring 58.10. Her best piece was also on vault. Natasha Granville competed at level 11 taking home a Gold medal  scoring 47.45. Her best piece was also on vault. Georgia Bishop and Ella Mead both competed at level 10. Mead took Gold scoring 43.10 and Bishop took home silver with a score of 41.20.  Their best pieces also were on vault.

All girls were pleased with their performances on the day coached by Colin Rigby and Sarah Edmonds.

South Region Levels Championships 2013, Rivermead

Three girls from Carterton Gymnastics Club, Upavon Way, Carterton got through to the South Region Levels Championships 2013 and competed at Rivermead Leisure Complex in Reading on 21st and 22nd September. All three girls competed on vault, bars, beam and floor in a very tough competition. Evie Daft aged 8 competed at level 5. Her best piece of the day was on floor.  Georgia Bishop aged 12 competed at level 4 with her best piece being on bars. Ella Mead competed at level 3.  Mead walked away with a gold medal on both beam and vault, taking home also a bronze medal overall.  All three girls did their best and their coach Debra Courtenay-Crane was very proud of them all.

As you were all aware, we were nominated and short-listed for the prestigious award, of West Oxfordshire Sports Club of the Year 2013, and tonight, Thursday 23rd May, it was announced that we won! Congratulations to all involved in making this a truly wonderful club!

Awards for West Oxfordshire’s sporting stars

 

Budding sports stars and inspirational club staff were honoured at the annual West Oxfordshire Sports Awards on 23.05.13.

 

The ceremony, held at Witney Lakes Resort, acknowledged the District’s talented athletes as well as the valuable work carried out by the sports clubs, coaches and unsung heroes.

 

West Oxfordshire District Council runs the awards in partnership with GLL Sports Foundation. Richard Langridge, Cabinet Member responsible for leisure was full of praise for the winners. He said: “This is one of my favourite events of the year as it a chance to celebrate the passion, achievement, dedication and commitment of the talent we have in West Oxfordshire".

 

Sports Club of the Year

 

Carterton Gymnastics Club was crowned Sports Club of the Year in recognition of its achievements and links with the local community.

 

The Club provides coaching for all ages and has 100 children participating at all levels. Last year they coached an elite squad to county and regional level and coached a veteran gymnast to national level, achieving second place in the GB veteran competition

 

The club shares facilities with the local community college, providing an excellent model of sporting opportunities for the students and actively encourage students participating in GCSE, A level and Duke of Edinburgh.

 

Photo: Head Coach, Debra Courtney Crane, received the award on behalf of the Club and said, “This is a fantastic achievement for the Club and all the volunteers who give up so much of their time. This is why the Club is such a success. I have 12 volunteer coaches helping me and I couldn’t do it without them."
