EIGHT members of Carterton Gymnastic Veterans Club competed at the British Championships 2014 at Lilleshall National Sports Centre at the weekend. This is the first competition the team have entered having only been formed as a team since January this year. Most of the team only started gymnastics then and some having been out of the sport for many years. They have been sponsored by ABC Oxford Limited.
Professionals Kate Dela, Georgina Money and Laura Trafford competed. Dela came 2nd overall in the over 30's. Money and Trafford both competed in the over 18's, Money coming 9th overall and Trafford 7th overall and 4th in tumbling.
Novice gymnasts include Colin Rigby who entered in the over 50's coming 2nd overall and 1st in tumbling, Angela Money entered in the over 40's coming 6th overall and 6th in tumbling. Claire Granville also in the over 40's came 4th overall and 4th in tumbling. Angela Oliver and Angela Bywater both entered the over 30's, Oliver coming 7th overall and 3rd in tumbling and Bywater 6th overall and 9th in tumbling.
The team enjoyed every minute and worked extremely hard with their coach Debra Courtenay-Crane.

Oxfordshire County Levels Competition at Berinsfield, Sunday 29th June 2014

EIGHT girls from Carterton Gymnastics Club of Upavon Way, Carterton competed at the Oxfordshire County Levels Competition at Berinsfield on Sunday 29th June 2014. All competed on vault, floor, bars and beam.
Ella Mead aged 14 competed at Level 3 OOA and took home a Bronze on beam. Molly Mullins age 13, Georgia Bishop age 12 and Natasha Granville age 11 all competed at Level 4 OOA. Mullins took Gold on vault and bars, Bishop took Gold on floor while Granville took Silver on both vault and beam and Bronze on bars coming second overall. Eabha Morris age 10, Evie Daft and Isabel Norris both aged 9 competed at Level 5 OOA. Daft took home a Gold on both vault and Bars while taking a Silver on floor. Best piece by Eabha and Isabel was on floor. Roisin Morris age 8 competed at Level 4 IA and took home Gold on vault, bars, beam and floor coming first overall. All eight girls worked hard and had a great day, it being the first competition for three of them, coached by Debra Courtenay-Crane and Colin Rigby.

Southern Region Grades Competition at Basingstoke

THREE girls from Carterton Gymnastics Club, Upavon Way, Carterton took part in the Southern Region Grades Competition at Basingstoke on Sunday 13th April 2014. All three girls competed on vault, floor, bars and beam. Evie Daft aged 9 entered at grade 13 and her best piece of the day was on on vault scoring 12.30. Natasha Granville aged 11 entered at grade 10 and her best piece of the day was also on vault scoring 12.10. Ella Mead aged 14 entered at grade 9. Her best piece of the day was on vault scoring 11.90 and she took home a bronze medal overall.

South Region Voluntary Levels Competition, Sunday 4th and 5th October 2014 at Milton Keynes

FOUR girls from Carterton Gym Club entered the South Region Voluntary Levels in and out of age gymnastics competition on Sunday 4th and 5th October 2014 at Milton Keynes. All four competed on bars, beam, vault and floor at different levels. Evie Daft aged 9 competed at level 5 OOA and her best piece was on bars with 11.40. Natasha Granville aged 12 and Georgia Bishop aged 13 both competed at level 4 OOA. Granville took home a silver medal on vault with a score of 11.70. Bishop's best piece was on floor scoring 10.80. Ella Mead aged 15 competed at level 3 OOA. Mead took home gold on bars with 11.20, bronze on vault scoring 11.50 and bronze on beam scoring 8.30 taking home bronze overall. All four girls did well as it was a hard competition with some great gymnastics demonstrated by all.

Veterans over 30's Artistic Advanced Gymnastics Competition, Basingstoke

KATE Dela from Carterton Gymnastics Club, Upavon Way, Carterton competed at the Veterans over 30's Artistic Advanced Gymnastics Competition at Basingstoke on Sunday 8th June 2014.
It was an amazing day for Kate. She competed on vault, bars, floor and beam. Her best score was on beam with 13.80. Her overall score was 39.80 and she took home a Gold medal.

Oxfordshire Grades Competition, Abingdon

FOUR girls from Carterton Gym Club, Upavon Way, Carterton, all competed at the Oxfordshire Grades Gymnastics Competition at Berinsfield on Sunday 16th March 2014. All four passed their Grades getting through to the Southern Region competition in May, and all came home with Gold medals. The youngest Evie Daft aged 9 took her grade 13, Amelie Meaden aged 9 took her grade 12 while Natasha Granville aged 11 took 10 and Ella Mead being the eldest at 14 took her grade 9. They all took part on four pieces of apparatus being vault, bars, beam and floor and were coached there by Debra Courtenay-Crane.
